ffmpeg Does not work for some sites, and can be skippy.

I really like the pact that ffmpeg was added as it starts to stream almost immediately  but I have some issues.  I usually stream 128k AAC+ stations, and it works well for sites like Radio Partadise But dit crashes for sites like SomaFM Secrete Agent , or any other SOMAFM station.  Not sure why.  I also experience jumpy skippyness after a while with FFMpeg.  Are you planning on updating FFMpeg?  BTW, I have used XIIA in Pro for a while and find it to be the best out there for those that want good quality streaming, especially with a solid buffer for driving.

Thanks for the post! Yes, we will still be working on FFmpeg trying to improve it.  Currently there might be some jumpy skipping going on with AAC content.  We are working hard to make FFmpeg hopefully one day the default engine since it's more stable and reliable.

Best Settings? Sprint HTC one

Really new to this app, all other are SUPER FRUSTRATING with constant buffering, but this free one seems a little better but still buffers more than i like. Can you give me a not so techy advice on what buffer (stream) settings i should use and what they mean? went out on a limb and got the paid version.

Hey, it's been a while since you posted this. I wanted to provide an updated answer to your question. The latest releases of XiiaLive contains the new stream engine that is fast and battery efficient compared to our previous solution and compared to all other apps out there that does live radio streaming. Not only that it is smarter at handling network connection loss and it is the most stable uninterrupted available.

status bar icon colour

I'd be glad to be able to switch the skin of the status bar icon.
The other icons are usually green themed (I'm on Gingerbread), so a green icon would fit better.

allow filenames with whitespace

i can't load m3u's with whitespace in their names, nor will it load file:/// 's within m3u's with whitespace. I tried escaping whitespace with \ and "fna me".

Thanks for the feedback! This is an interesting request. I would like to take a closer look at it.  Do you have a sample playlist you could upload here? It doesn't necessarily have to point to valid data just want to see what you kinda have.

G-Box based devices support

I have some G-Box (Android 4) based device (like Google-TV), on which I'm able to install XiiaLive Free, and it works flawlessly! But now when I wan't to buy PRO version, GooglePlay says the same device is not supported? ... can you help me with that to be able to buy/use PRO version? I can give you the exact device name (as provided/recognized by GooglePlay)

I have looked on the Google Play Market to see how many devices where supported by the free and pro version and the same count is seen.  Have you ever purchased an app via that device? You could try to purchase via the play website and sending the install to that device. It's very odd since the two apps are identical.

Metadata Slow On Stream

Using this app to listen to a scanner feed, audio is heard quickley after the real dispatch but the metadata for the channel lags or is 12 seconds before the audio is heard. This doesn't seem to be an issue on other players that can listen to m3u streams. What can be done to correct this? program setting?

Currently when streaming AAC stations we have implemented a great sync system with metadata. I'm guessing this is an MPEG station?

The reason why other players seem to sync the metadata better could be because of a few different reasons. The one most likely is that we provide larger buffers. You could try lowering the buffer lengths to their minimum and see if the issue is corrected. Note that only Paid version allows buffering changes.
