HTC Incredible - Screen-off Problem

krisyadao 13 years ago updated by Jona (Lead Developer) 10 years ago 12
I am having an issue with the latest update to XiiaLive Pro (version 2.1.6) that I did not experience before. When connected to wifi, if I manually lock my screen or when it times out, the stream stops and buffers for a long time. When it does finally play, it's only does so for a few seconds, then buffers again and repeats. I do not have this issue when steaming over 3G. I am running a very stable ASOP rom (CyanogenMod 6.1) Uninstalling/re-installing didn't help either. I hope this problem can be addressed as it worked before the update and streaming over 3G when I have access to wifi is an unnecessary waste of my data plan.

Thank You

Hi, i'm having the same problems with a HTC Desire HD. Same Bug Description as from krisyadao.

Would be nice, if you could look into this, 'cause this error makes listening to a radio station nearly impossible when at home and using Wifi.

regards,
Thanks for your feedback! I have posted a reply above please see that and reply to it. Thanks for your help!
Could you please send me an email... I'll like to provide you with an apk for you to use and see if the issue still happening..

Thanks!
Ignore that last comment. While changing the setting did cause a slight improvement, there is still noticeably more buffering while the screen is off.
Thanks for your feedback! What phone do you have? In general custom ROMs have been an issue for us. But you have said that after update v2.1.6 things have started to work badly... Can you let me know if the issue is with MPEG streams or AAC streams? I'm thinking the issue is with AAC streams. Please verify and let me know, this should help me further investigate the issue.
I have an HTC Incredible and it was an mpeg stream.
Does it happen with every mpeg stream? If it's a particular one please let me know the url link.
I have tried three separate mpeg streams, they have the same result.
Could you send me an email I like to provide you with an apk for you to use.... hopefully it should be fixed....  support@xiialive.com

Thanks!

I have the same issue as the op, except im on a rooted stock 2.2 Incredible.  When i attempt to stream any mpeg stream over wifi, mainly from radioio.com, as soon as my screen times out the playback stops, buffers for awhile, starts again, and stops over and over again.  This does not happen with 3g.  I attempted to reproduce the problem with other apps/streams, and it seems like the  only app that does not suffer the problem is pandora.  I have a feeling it has something to do with wifi going to sleep when the screen goes off, even though my wifi sleep policy is set correctly.  If that's the issue then pandora has programmed some type of wifi lock into the app so that the radio doesn't sleep.  (hours of googleing haven't turned up any solutions, but a heap of posts in regards to wifi sleep problems)

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated since i love xiia.
Thanks for your feedback! I'm not sure what pandora could be doing... Could you send me an email at support@xiialive.com and in the title please use the title of this post.  I wan to send you a new version of the app with some changes to see if the issue still occurs.  If it does than a log collection could help see what is going on...

Thanks!
After the newest update 2.1.8, I have found that connectivity while using any type of stream over 3g has improved immensely(with almost no drops).  Unfortunately, this has not fixed the streaming over wifi issue I have been having.
