Yes, correct, nothing should have changed with the Internal stream engine on update v2.2.2.  However we are planning that the next release be one that contains improvements for AAC and MPEG streams.
What phone do you have and what version of Android is it running?  Also, does this issue happen with all streams or only a particular one you have? Also, are you having issues with AAC or MPEG streams?
Some low bitrate streams seem to be decoded incorrectly by many Android devices.  This is a known issue on the Android community.  I would recommend you try the internal stream engine.  That stream engine uses our own decoder not the Android decoder.  It is in beta mode but soon we will release final version. To try out the internal stream engine just go to XiiaLive->Adv users and set to ON the internal stream engine.
The stream might have been down.  I just tested and it is working properly.  Please try again and if you are having issue.  If you still have an issue, please reproduce the issue and collect the logs. The logs can help us see what is going on.

To collect the logs is fairly easy:

This is a confirmed bug and we have already a fix.  Update will be out in the next few days! Thanks for reporting the issue!

Update 06/19/11:

My fault I got confused. The issue was not with the internal stream engine, it was with the Android based stream engine.  That has been resolved. I would recommend you try setting the internal engine to OFF and see if you can stream.  The metadata addition for the internal stream engine will be soon.

Please send me an email at support@xiialive.com I would like to provide you with a new app version to see if this issue is resolved.  Thanks!

Update 06/16/11:

I tested the radio on my PC using WinAmp and I heard the gaps you talk about, but they rarely happen.  This suggests that it's an issue with the actual broadcaster.

Yes, the phones decoder is horrible most of the cases specially with Android 2.2 and lower.  We hope to have our own internal engine ready to be used as the default choice, we are optimizing and adding support for metadata.  Remember that MPEG and AAC support was naturally working on our FFMPEG implementation, so no optimization have been made yet. :)

Could you install the latest release of XiiaLive v.2.2.1?  Please try that version and let me know if the issue continues. Thanks!

Update 0615/11:

Stream engine from v2.2.1 resolved this issue. The issue was with the beta internal stream engine.

Just to confirm your issue was resolved with the latest update v.2.2.1 correct?
Thanks for the details. There have been a lot of work done on the streaming engine and part of that work was in the AAC streaming.  That could be the reason why now it works. :) In terms of the screen issue.  I'll be looking into that... Thanks!
