Automatically reduce Volume on connect

Marc Knaup 11 years ago updated by Jona (Lead Developer) 11 years ago 0

It happens so often to me. XiiaLive loses connection and after few seconds to minutes it reconnects - depending on the internet availability.

Or I connect to a station and pre-buffering takes a while. Or I have to stop music for a short period for any other reason (phone call?).

That's all fine so far.

But what's really annoying is that when the music suddenly starts or continues playing, it's so loud it hurts your ears (assuming headphones). It's not because of a bug - it's just that the ears adapted to the silence. And then even 70% volume sound way too loud. It takes a while until the ears adapt to the higher volume again.

It would be awesome to have a setting like 'reduce volume to XX% after YY seconds of silence'. So every playback after the defined duration of silence starts with XX% volume. Android media volume, not app-internal!

Then after playback started I can chose to raise the volume again. There are hardkeys for that - so it's easy.

I could also think of XiiaLive automatically and slowly raise the volume back to the level where it was before it was reduced when starting playback. Changing volume manually would then cancel the automatic raising.

Great feedback! Thanks!

I think it would be great to have a fade-in feature specially for those cases. I think simply fading-in the volume every time playback starts would be pleasant. Potentially having an option to set how long the fade should last.

I'll set this feature request as planned.
