I no longer have the app for the NOOK HD+ anymore.
Update: I no longer have the XiiaLive app for iPod Touch.
Update: I had to erase my iPod Touch yesterday so I now no longer have the XiiaLive app.

That's good that you tried all of those things. It's a shame that it's not working for you though.
That's odd. Have you tried shutting down the device, rebooting it, or uninstalling the app and reinstalling the app?
Now the message is starting to return again.
