Can't change songs from the widget. The forward and back arrows are grayed out.

You are correct, the widget PREV/NEXT buttons are grayed out because they are a Pro feature. With these buttons you can start streaming the next favorite station. It does not allow you to skip to the next song since you are streaming live radio.
