Support for http auth streams?

Morten Børnes 13 year бұрын updated by Jona (Lead Developer) 12 year бұрын 12 1 duplicate

I run a private icecast2 server that I would like to stream on my android phones using xiialive.

But xiialive does not seem to support http auth url's?

When I input http://username:password@streaming.url it just says unauthorized.

And when I input it without username and password it does not ask for a username and password.

The stream itself works fine in vlc/winamp for windows and in winamp for android.

Would love this to be implemented as xiialive is my favourite streaming client for android.

Thanks for your request.  We do want to support password protected streams.  I'll look into Squeezebox Server...

Really need this function - just subscribed today to a high quality Japan-A-Radio (japanaradio.com) stream and can't play it with XiiaLive. I really don't want to have to find another app! I tried the http://username:password@ method but xiialive just kept returning a 401 unauthorised message.

I concur, would it be possible to implement it to the beta version atleast?
Will be answered
Thanks for your feedback on this area.  We have plans to add this option very soon! We are working on a new release coming out soon and hope we can release this feature along with it.

Glad to hear. Jona.

Really hope you'll release this update soon!

XiiaLive <3

Hi, no more news on this since 7 months ago? I've tried today with updated version of XiiaLive but no luck... It would be VERY useful! Thanks
I know 7 months is a lot! I guess you could say I'm learning a lot about the development process since my time estimation was a bit off... :(  Things are looking better for a soon release.  You can checkout XiiaLive Beta from the market.  This feature is however not there yet.
Thank you Jona! I hope you'll release soon that beta so we can try it :)
Really, this is the only feature that I miss in your player, I appreciate your work very much. Thank you!
P.S.: of course it would be nice to store user & pass and save them on the favorites. Maybe you could make it as an option, so if someone is not interested he could avoid to save them -- Just a suggestion hehe :)

I was about to ask the same, "very soon" is not a year :)

Would it be possible to implement it to the beta version atleast?

Yes, I will. The problem is that I have many other higher priority things to fix and add. :(  But I will try to get this implemented.  Would you find it helpful to store the password and username for the station on your favorites?

Absolutely, that would be awesome sauce.

Give me a word when the update is ready, my body is ready <3

Update:
HTTP Authentication completed and will be part of the next beta release. Upon authenticated URLs it will now prompt user for username and password. This information will be stored encrypted as part of station data. That means favorite stations will be able to set/edit username and password.

Great!! It works perfectly on my Nexus S! I've only had some trouble to figure out on how to add my custom url to the favorites database... :) Later I've noticed the how-to video on your site, but I still think that a dedicated prompt window would have been better (and faster)... Don't you think? :) Apart from that I'm waiting for the release version, I'll buy it for sure. Thank you!
Yeah adding custom URL will be part of the official release for sure! :) Thanks for your feedback!
