I see that there was an update about a month ago that was supposed to fix the metatags. I still only get "unknown" where the track info. should appear. Is there anything that can be done about this issue?

There are two possibilities...
First, some broadcasters don't provide track info.
Second, most likely your case, you probably have the internal stream engine turned on. 
You can check by going to >settings >advanced users.
The internal engine is still in beta state so some things aren't complete. 
The track info should show on the next update.
