Unable to play local M3U playlist

Waclaw Antosz 9 years ago updated by Werner 6 years ago 12
I have a local M3U playlist (on my phone)). I use ES File Explorer to open the playlist with XiiaLive Pro. The app opens but does not play anything and I see a "Fail to Connect" message at the bottom. Here is my playlist:

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:-1, RockRadio1.com
http://87.98.146.216:8000
#EXTINF:-1, KQLZ Pirate Radio
http://66.85.154.211:9035

Each stream plays fine if I add it manually to my favorites. However, I don't want to do that as my real M3U file is much larger and I actually use Dropbox to sync it between my devices. I have paid for the "Pro" license understanding that playing M3U playlists is supported. What am I missing?

Hey @Walclaw, sorry I haven't replied sooner. We are a tiny company, I'm the only person taking care of development and forum support for XiiaLive. :/

I have resolved this issue. I tried playing an m3u playlist from dropbox and it now works correctly. Just to confirm you where seeing the error E:-12 correct? I'm hoping to release an update this month. We have a lot of nice changes going into this update.

Hey, thanks for writing. Let me take a look see what I can find out...
I have  the same problem. I didn't have this problem when I used Xiialive a few years ago.
Well, you must admit I have been patient (a month!). For me the ability to play M3U playlist is a must. Since I paid for this app I would expect a bit more prompt support. Perhaps it is time for a bad review. It might be futile in a grand scheme of things, but it will make me feel better and might stop others from wasting their money.

The main reason for this bug was that we didn't support https with openSSL. Now we are going to support that. This will allow playing from dropbox and other cloud file storage services.
Great news. Can't wait for the next release. If I knew the problem was launching it from Dropbox folder (/sdcard/Android/data/com.dropbox.android/...) instead of, for example, /sdcard/Download, I would have been fine with simply making a copy of my playlist there. I tested that and it works just fine. Obviously launching it directly from my Dropbox folder will be even better!

BTW, looks like you might have a problem with file names with spaces. "Radio Stations.m3u" fails with "Fail to connect" but "Radio.m3u" works. Does not bother me, just an FYI.

PS. Sorry for being a bit cranky. I appreciate getting back to me.
Hey no problem! Thanks for the confirmation. I'll look into the file names with spaces. :)

Having a problem with playlist in Xiialive pro

Content of my ... playlist1.m3u ...file

The file is stored in Dropbox
If I click the file, Dropbox asks me to open the file with ...  Xiialive pro
Xiialive pro opens and I'm getting the following messages depending on the settings:

Stream engine : FFmpeg
User agent : FFmpeg
Message : unsupported media E:-12

Stream engine : Android
User agent : FFmpeg
Message : invalid URL

Stream engine : Android
User agent : Android
Message : invalid URL

How do I get this working?

Android 7.0 tablet ASUS ZenPad

The links (streams) on this page (browser) do open the xiialive app and plays the stream.

The problem is to load the playlist1.m3u

Is this support (forum) still alive to solve my problem?

The problem still persists. I try to open a playlist strait from the station website and it says EMPTY PLAYLIST which it's not true because players like Winamp, foobar2000, Aimp, etc. play it without problems.

This issue needs to be fixed!

let us hope soon but I don't really see much support here :-)

I see my posts are already 3 months now.
