If that's your question: Backup & restore is used to backup your favorites and tags. You might have a nice collection of favorites and tags that you don't want to loose in the event of a possible database corruption due to unknown reasons. Also, this option is nice if you want to switch phones and want to carry those favorites and tags to the new phone.
