Please let me know the following information:

Device name:

Android version:

Stream audio format:  MPEG or AAC?

Some particular devices seem to have issues with streaming and can cause repeats.  We are working on a much more advanced player that should resolve this type of issues.

XiiaLive by default is not the main media control handler on Android. In order to make XiiaLive the default media control handler you must enable that option.

Here is how to make XiiaLive the default handler for all incoming media controls:

1. Go to XiiaLive Settings.

2. Go into App controls.

3. Set Media control to ON.

There should be no problems setting up an alarm that plays via BT. You should be able to do that with the free and pro versions.  The only thing is you need to make sure to leave the device already paired so that when the alarm is triggered the phone sends the audio output to your BT stereo.

Adding your own URLs to favorites is easy and can be done in two different ways.

  1. Using the add URL option under favorites.
  2. Clicking on a URL from an email or browser and picking XiiaLive to open it. Once opened wait until it connects and the add favorite icon is enabled. Press add favorite icon and the station will now be part of your favorite stations.

XiiaLive support various formats and it is recommended to add playlist URLs rather then direct URLs.  The reason is that playlists generally contain various URL links to the same station and in cases where one server is full or down XiiaLive will try playing the next available URL.

Supported formats:

PlaylistPLS, M3U and ASX.

AudioMP3, MPEG, AAC, AACP, OGG, ASF, and various others.

Baudrate is being reported correctly. Most live streams have a burst of data that they send out when you first connect. That is why the baudrate spikes at the start. As that burst of data is completed you should see ~127kbps download average since that is the max data rate the live stream will send out.

So you are correct that the reported baudrate is not the overall device network throughput but rather the throughput between the device and the live stream. That is why if the reported baudrate stays around 128kbps on a stream that is 128kbps there should be no issues with the stream.

Cool! Yeah, I'll look to see how that information could be available on the player. Again, on the XiiaLive Stats home screen widget you can see XiiaLive avg download speed, a.k.a baudrate.  About the buffer data remaining that's fine too. Could be ultimate debugging information for nerds like us ;)

Great post! Well currently you can see where the buffer is at with respect to the current playback position by looking at the seekbar. Please see the following post about that:

http://support.xiialive.com/topic/156141-how-seekbar-works/

About the current download speed, "baudrate", you can see info on the home widgets. The widgets contain 5 little bars that indicate the health of the connection for the required amount of data to be downloaded for the stream. Having less then 3 bars means your network speed can't keep up with the required download speed. If you have XiiaLive Pro, you can use the Stream stats widget that shows the actual baudrate value.

In the near future we do want to add a better way for you to check the network download speed from within the player.

Thanks for the feedback. Some devices seem to block localhost servers. Essentially that is how we are able to stream using Android stream engine. You should check that you have no ad blockers or virus protection apps blocking these localhost ports.

I'm already working on a much more advanced stream engine that will no longer depend on Android media services and have the type of issues you are reporting.  This new stream engine will decode using hardware too to improve battery life. Also, it will include recording :).  When will it be released? Well, I can't give any dates yet cause generally takes longer than my estimates.

Oh...  Unfortunately we don't support FM tuner. Only some phones contain FM tuner capabilities.

Perfect! Thanks for the screenshot! I'll look into doing what you are saying... Seems like the lock screen player doesn't support the artist field :(
