Configurable Bluetooth Metadata
So, first of all, I just want to congratulate on the best Internet Radio app currently on the market. As someone who has recently migrated from TuneIn, I have to say that Xiialive is light years ahead in features. While I do think that the Shoutcast directory is somewhat lacking on international radio stations, and would love to see additional directories, today I am writing to talk about BT metadata streaming.
What I would really really love to be able to do is define, in some advanced settings, the metadata information transmitted via Bluetooth. While I know that Xiialive is supposed to send station, artist and song name, for some reason my car stereo/phone combination only shows song name metadata. That is, I can only see the song name, not the artist nor the station. This is not a Xiialive problem, it also happens with the phone´s standard music player and other apps.
My goal is to use bluetooth controls on the car without accessing the phone, so I wish I could navigate through my favorite stations seeing their names on the radio without need to check the phone screen.
So, would it be possible to configure Xiialive to send, for example, station name on the song name tag? There are thousands of streams that do not tag their songs, so being able to use those tags for additional info would also be soooo great (I can think of battery status or traffic RSS feeds for example).
Anyhow, I am using a Samsung Galaxy S3 with Android Jelly Bean 4.1 and Xiialive Pro 3.0.2.2 on a 2013 Nissan Connect system, Thanks and keep up the great work.

I don't think you're alone, with my HTC One on Android 4.3 with my Subaru Forester Bluetooth stereo, it only shows stale information that is from the last app I used, whether it's Spotify, DI.FM, or TuneIn Pro.
If I start up one of those apps, the information updates with the current metadata, but if I start up XiiaLive Pro, the information doesn't update, but the correct information does show in the notification curtain and the player itself.
I hope an update is coming soon to address this!
Thanks for sharing. On Android 4.3 I started using the new Android APIs to send BT data properly. I have updated the app to use that on the last update. Previous older version I was using a hack to get metadata sent over BT. I'm wondering if the hack is still required... :/
Please let me know if the "Lock screen controls" is ON under settings->App control.
Thanks for your feedback. I think it would be a nice and interesting feature to have to allow setting how the metadata should be sent over BT. I will set this idea on our feature request list.
About surfing between favorites, Currently PREV/NEXT buttons on BT device move between favorite stations. It will show you the title of the favorite for 2 seconds before playback starts so you can actually keep pressing the PREV/NEXT until you find the favorite you want to play. It is not the best but tends to be useful.
Hi, Jona! WOW I have to say, you're definitely the most involved and responsive App developer I've ever seen! I'm impressed!
To answer your question, I do have the Lock Screen Controls turned on, though they randomly seem to disappear...I can't reproduce this with any other app, unfortunately. This is odd, because it was working fine the other day.
Hehe... Well tell you the truth sometimes I'm overwhelmed with work and I can't answer emails or forum posts after a several days.... :(
The lock screen controls should only be shown while there is something playing. If playback stopped those controls will no longer be visible. Please let me know if that is how it is working.
I have checked on my car audio, but unfortunately, I can´t get the 2 second favorite preview on it. Once playback begins, for the stations that stream song name, I get the song name on the screen, but never the station nor artist name, neither the 2 second favorite name. Will patiently wait for a configurable metadata where I could set the station/favorite name to the song bt metadata tag :-)
Thx again for a great app.
Thanks for the info. Yeah it seems like some BT devices show the metadata in different ways... I definitely think a custom configurable setup could work.
I have the same problem.
My headunit allows me to switch between "title", "album / artist", "playtime", "clock" modes, but no option to see the artist and title of the currently playing song together. If there would be some option to include artist in the title field of the AVRCP metadata that would be good enough for me.
