The reason we don't have an exit button is because once you stop the music everything is shutdown and nothing is working on the background. When you take a look at running services you will see that it is not running. However if you look at the running processes you will see XiiaLive. Because you see a process it doesn't mean is running. Android keeps these processes in memory just in case the process needs to run right away, making things load up faster. If more memory is needed Android kills these hanging processes right away!

What are you essentially expecting the exit button to do for you? I have had various requests for an exit button and would like to hear your opinion.

Thanks!

Every other streaming app I tried has an exit button. I'm uninstalling Xiia because of this annoying shortcoming.

It might have been better if your explanation was a bit different. I didn't understand what you meant at first... thinking that you were meaning "If you stop the music everything freezes up". What you meant to say is "to exit the program, just press the square that stops the music from playing,  then press your 'BACK' button on your cell or tablet, and that will exit the app."  This however is not necessarily intuitive, and there should be an exit button as that's the first thing most people look for when they want to exit an app. OR you could add that as a final mode when pressing the BACK button on the cell or tablet... that when there is no further BACK step to go, it automatically exits the program, even if music is playing.  Just a suggestion! :) Thanks for a great app, btw! It's replaced PANDORA for me!

Thanks for the fast reply! This clear things up. The first reply sounded a bit evasive to me. I'm new to Android and thought a program that I can't quit would still use resources (as on a laptop). Anyway, I think some other players actually stop running (they're not listed in 'running applications' anymore) when I exit. But some don't, as I know now, so Xiia isn't such a big exception, I guess. Thanks for the explanation!
Thanks Chris for your feedback! We really appreciate it! Please let us know any ideas or issues you might have! We take our users comments and ideas seriously and try to help explaining things along the way. :)

I would add that although other apps may have an exit button, many of them such as Slacker Radio or TuneIn Radio continue to run in the background even after the exit option is selected.  Some of these apps even lock themselves into memory thereby preventing android from killing them or by auto relaunching after being killed.  In my experience Xiia Live interacts the best with android as it readily allows the system to kill it's process if memory is needed and doesn't start at boot.  Thanks developers!

I know this is an old thread, but the only thing preventing me from buying this app is the lack of an exit button. I completely understand how memory works, but that is not the issue.  when I close the app I want it to disappear off the screen completely. It's simply in the way to keep the entire user interface open even if its not using memory. It's a very simple matter to add an exit button and it would make closing the app much more intuitive for the user. If you add an exit button, I will buy this in a heartbeat, but without an exit button I will never buy it.
Thanks for sharing with us your feedback. We will take your request into consideration.

I've done a test with a fully charged (and just rebooted) phone.
Started Xiialive, listened for 10 seconds and pressed stop. I then went back to sleep, and lo and behold, 1.5 hours later the program was still using CPU. It had kept my Nexus 6 (lollipop 5.1) awake for the entire time. Normal use when doing nothing is about 2%, now 14% of the battery was gone. So in this case pressing the 'stop' button definitively did not stop the program!
Thanks for the feedback. We will look into this.

I also have problem with no exit. I love the program, but it remains in my pull-down, even if not playing a station. When I use the left button to close buttons, it shows it gone, but STILL shows up in pull-down. And, it's twice-height, talking up twice the room, and always at the top. I don't like that. At all. Bothers me...anytime I can't use common methods to ensure program is closed, it annoys me.

Still an issue. I have to force stop it.

please add an exit button. I'm totally in support of those that clamoured for this!

There is no exit button and Xiaalive Pro is always on. I can't switch it off. Please tell me how to stop it from running in the background. Every time I kill it, it just autostarts again. Only by putting my phone in flight mode can I stop the program from running. I will then hear that typical noise of Xiaalive not connecting. Even when I've not been using it. I'm very displeased.

This is relevant since it takes place on the screen ( exit option ) and protection false ( ON )  When using the phone .!
