Suddenly in the middle of the night I hear the dreaded thunking sound and the message indicates unsupported media. What does that mean? I need my comedy programs in the night! Galaxy S-III

Update v3.2.0.5 has been released with a fix for this issue.
What version of XiiaLive are you using? Can you provide the URL of the stations?

Thanks for responding.  I was able to figure it out and am getting the station again.
I've been using the previous version of Xiialive Pro with great success to stream my audio files recorded in the MPEG Transport Stream Container (*.ts) format from my Humax PVR. I downloaded the latest version of Xiaalive Pro and now I get Error Message E:-31 - unsupported media. Disaster! Is it possible for me to revert to previous versions please?

I'm using a Samsung media phone running Android V2.3. The *.ts format is the standard recording format for Freeview (UK terrestrial digital) radio stations on the Humax HDR T2 PVR hard disk and the PVR's DLNA software streams it out directly without format change. As mentioned, prior to the upgrade, Xiaalive Pro (and Xiaalive) rendered the stream perfectly.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for the post. Could you provide the URL to the station so that I can test and resolve the issue? If it is a private link you can always sent it privately to our support email. Thanks for the help!

Many thanks for your very fast response. In answer to your question then I'm sorry but my local network is firewalled off by my IP provider.

Perhaps the following information would make it possible to progress this problem?

1) I record radio programmes which are broadcast by terrestrial digital stations in the UK (Freeview). My PVR is a Humax HDR-FOX T2 which can record TV and radio channels and stations in an encrypted format.

2) I listen to the programmes using my Samsung Media Phone accessing the PVR via the local network. The 'phone is running Android 2.3.

3) The PVR decrypts and streams out the recorded radio programmes over the LAN via the Humax HDR-FOX media server, a DNLA compliant software. As mentioned above, the LAN is not accessible from the general internet; thus I cannot provide you with a url.

4) The media content of the files stored on the PVR is mp2 (audio only). It is multiplexed into an MPEG transport stream and the file is stored on the Humax with a "ts" extension, example: "test.ts".

5) I use MediaHouse on my Phone to connect to the Humax media server. It seems that MediaHouse does not have the capability to render mp2 and instead offers various external renderer applications, including Xiialive and Xiialive Pro, to provide that function. Until yesterday I was able to click on Xiialive Pro and the application would load and render without problem.

6) Yesterday I was offered an upgrade to Xiialive (version 3.0.3.3) and Xiialive Pro (previous version unknown, possibly also 3.0.3.3) by Google Play. I read the "What's new" section for Xiialive Pro and to my delight saw that pause/seek was now enabled for all audio formats - something that I had previously been badly missing. So I downloaded and installed the latest version of Pro.

7) Xiialive Pro v3.2.0.4 no longer renders my radio recorded files! Instead I get the "Unsupported Media E:-31" error report! I kept v3.0.3.3 of Xiialive and that still renders the same stream perfectly but only for 20 minutes.

8) I've copied a short decrypted test file test.ts onto my 'phone but I can't find any way to play it from a local file using Xiialive Pro or Xiialive.

** Is this possible? **

If it is I could test the file on the 'phone here to see if Xiialive and Xiialive Pro perform in the same way when rendering a local file. If they do then I could copy the test file to you for your investigation if that would be helpful.

I have used avconv to strip out the audio stream to a file "test.mp2" and the same applies, including the fact that I cannot find a way to play it as a local file.

9) Can I reinstall version 3.0.3.3 of the Pro app please? I could happily put up with a non-working pause control while you investigater further.

** How would I do that? **

Thanks again for your help.

Pam
Thanks for all the info and sorry about the inconvenience. I was actually able to add *.ts format with mp2 decoder support back into the app. Everything should work again! I will send out an update tomorrow.
That's terrific news! Thank you so much. I will watch out for the update appearing in Google Play and I am really looking forward to being able to use your excellent app once again. I'll let you know when I'm successfully up and running again.

I found the new version on Google Play and installed it. Now the app is working perfectly for me once again AND the pause control works!! Many thanks for fixing this so quickly.
I had trouble in adding URL our station always appears error unsupported media e:-31 how is that?? Our FM was already attune in radio I would like to use Xiialive apps cause its a lesser space.
Are you still having issues? Please provide more details such as the URL you are using to connect. Thanks!
I WAS USING THE IBA AND ME WELL AND AFTER AN UPGRADE, GIVE ME THE FOLLOWING ERROR UNSUPPORTED MEDIA E -31, http://176.31.244.46 ES MI URL:
The URL is simply no longer available. The server seem to have moved. The reason you get that error is because the server redirects to a webpage which has invalid data and XiiaLive can't recognize it as audio data.
downgraded version and works fine that station
thanks
Hey, just wanted to check if everything is working with with the latest release of XiiaLive? We resolved various bugs since your comment.
Hi, I have just got the Galaxy s5 and I am getting error unsupported media e:-31
The URL I am using is http://stream.ecat30radio.com

Hey, I took a look at the link but the link is not valid or working... :/

I am getting the error unsupported media e:-31 with the URL http://ferriz.com.mx/audiolive/ ... this is a new audio broadcasting, is it possible that XiiaLive does not support it or this URL is not correct for the application ?
Thenk you for your help.

Hey, the link you provided is not a valid link. It is a link to a website not a stream.

Hey, I just looked into these two streams and they played without any issues on XiiaLive. Do you have FFmpeg as your stream engine? You can check under Settings->Stream->Stream Engine.

All the sudden, a stream I've been listening too every day for months now: http://listen64.radionomy.com/3WKcomundergroundradio is giving me error: UNSUPPORTED MEDIA E:-12.

The stream address plays perfectly in winamp.

What the heck happened?

Jim Atkinson

Hey, I took a look at the link you provided and everything seems to be working fine. I'm guessing the stream was down during that time. Error -12 means unsupported protocol, so something was up with your network or radio that caused that odd error.

Hi Jona I'm getting this error too (e:-31) with Xiia 3.3.0.4 on a newly purchased LG G4 (Tmobile) running on both home-wifi and 4g) -- only on a particular stream -- which still works just fine on my old Galaxy G2 (it may have an older Xiia - have not checked yet). I'm a dev (mostly web and protocol-level) so could assist with various tests or tcpdump etc, but you may find the source URL more useful - since it is not public I'd need email it to you offline - or if you provide public another stream'sURL others reported as having the error, I can test that...

Please email me here if you'd like my help..

Thanks,

Ken

Hey, sent you an email to request the URL for me to test. Thanks!

I have found that when hard coding a favorite, make sure you dont hard code the url as HTTP... make sure your phone doesnt auto capitalize these letters... it wouldnt work and i was getting errors until i changed it to "http". now everything works fine (stupid error... lazy coding... dumb dumb dumb).

Hey Chad, this issue has been resolved on the latest release. This is actually an issue with the open source project FFmpeg. However, we provided a fix internally to fix that. Thanks for reporting it!
