Buffering Questions

DonpK 11 lat temu Ostatnio zmodyfikowane przez Jona (Lead Developer) 11 lat temu 5
I have a couple of questions about buffering.

When listening to a live radio stream, if Pre-buffering is set to, say, 10 seconds and a station is selected, I would expect a delay of at least 10 seconds before hearing audio. In fact, I hear audio within a second or two. Why is this?

If the "Buffer length" is set to, say, 40 seconds, when a live stream is selected I would expect a delay of at least 40 seconds for the buffer to be filled before I hear the first audio. As mentioned in my first question, I hear audio within a couple seconds of selecting the station. Why is this?

I read in an earlier post elsewhere on the forum that FFmpeg stream engine, which appears to be the default, does not support buffering. However, that was 10 months ago. Have things changed since then?

Here is a little background about buffering settings I recommend reading.
http://support.xiialive.com/topic/283567-understan...

Something interesting to know is that some stations send a burst of audio data when initially connecting. The audio burst can range up to 60 seconds or higher. This means that a 10 second pre-buffer setting will get filled very quickly. The buffer setting is not used for the initial connection as you will see on the provided link above.

Xiialive will not use Wi-fi connection.

Bryan 15 lat temu Ostatnio zmodyfikowane przez Jona (Lead Developer) 15 lat temu 2
Does XiiaLive use a Wi-fi connection? Everytime I enable my Wi-fi connection at home, the connection drops and will not re-establish.

Using CM6.1.2 on a Droid. On 3G, Xiaalive works with very little drop...

Yes, XiiaLive does use WiFi connection.

Have you tried using the latest release of XiiaLive? Please let us know if with the latest version 2.1.6 you are still seeing issues.

I have downloaded Light from Creative, but would like to buy the full version. I think I need to increase buffering, but can't do this on light.

Droid X Dropped Connections

Brien 15 lat temu Ostatnio zmodyfikowane przez Jona (Lead Developer) 15 lat temu 0
The lite version is more stable than the paid version. Frequent "Server Busy" message whereby the connection usually drops (Droid X).

Jona (Lead Developer) 15 lat temu
Thanks for your feedback. The paid and free versions use the exact same service/library for streaming. There shouldn't be any differences in streaming quality. Could it be that the message is not "Server Busy" but is "Server Full"?

can low bitrate cause loss of connection?

Iam-Anonymous 15 lat temu Ostatnio zmodyfikowane przez Jona (Lead Developer) 15 lat temu 0
The Radioio.com station I listen to has a 64 bit stream and I seam to loose the connection often as it buffers and remakes the connection. Even on wifi. So, could connecting to a higher bit stream (which would cost me money) give me a more reliable connection? Or does the constant buffer and loss of connection something else? I use a Droid on Verizon with the free version of Xiia.

Also, would the pro version, where I could crank up the buffer, help?

What phone do you have and what version of Android is it running? Some stations with low bitrate such as 24 or 32 sometimes have issues such as long delays between data transmissions leading to a timeout which turn to be a connection drop. A higher buffer length will not help in regards to a connection loss. Once it's lost the stream needs to connect again and start streaming.

It would be great if you can post the url you are having issues so that I can further determine what the cause could be. I would also try playing that stream on your computer and see if it drops there too...

Thanks!

droid bionic slow to connect

Craig Bischof 14 lat temu Ostatnio zmodyfikowane przez Tim M 14 lat temu 1

On my original DRIOD, Xiia connected within 1-2 seconds.

Recently upgraded to the Bionic, XIIA seems to hang on "99% buffering" for 5-8 seconds.Anything I can do/change?
Also, if a web site give me a choice (KBIA.org) is there a preferred format for streaming audio? Also, feedback page would not work on phone...sending from laptop...luv app....c

Try changing to the internal stream engine.
>settings >advanced users >turn on "Internal stream engine"
The internal engine is much faster connecting to a stream.

Well by looking at the formats they have in their website(m3u asx)  it doesn't really matter because they are just playlist. It depends on what the formats of the links inside are. There's not really a "preferred" format though. aac, asf, and ogg are the higher quality ones I believe.

req not found!

Michael Dunigan 15 lat temu Ostatnio zmodyfikowane przez Jona (Lead Developer) 12 lat temu 2
I use Xiialive to access my home PC hosting SiriusXMStreamer....which works great. One issue though is that if I attempt to initially access one of my http links through your application, I get a "req not found!" error. If I access outside your app (via the web browser download/view option to XiiaLive) it works. At which point, I can access my other channels via favorites in the app.

I wasn't sure if there was something with the initial handshake in your app that could be corrected? Or if this is an initial with the data stack on the Droid?

Cyanogenmod 11 screen off

Vojtěch Pangerl 12 lat temu Ostatnio zmodyfikowane przez Jona (Lead Developer) 11 lat temu 1
Hi!
I am running CM11-20140504 Android 4.4.2 on Samsung Galaxy S (GT-i9000)
Although this device is little bit obsolete, still working fine, except Xiialive. All kind of streams I use (mp3, ogg, aac+) working fine, until I power off the screen. Then the sound starts stutter (short pauses every +-10sec). Changing audio method to "Android" solves it partially, because when I change it, I can play just one stream. Also the buffer when I start streaming seems strange-very short and always shows buffering 0% and in less than 1sec it starts playing.
Do you have some solution to this? If you would like to have some logs, etc, dont hesitate to ask me.
I am to buy xiia live, but I would like to solve this before purchase.
Thank you in advance

Hey, sorry for taking so long to reply. :( I guess the CPU is lowering it's speed when the screen is off. This shouldn't be happening since we are telling the OS that we need the CPU at it's normal speed...

We have done various updates since your last post and I'm wondering if this issue could have been resolved? Also, the Android stream engine has various little issues that are caused by Android media framework. We recommend 100% using FFmpeg stream engine.
