station metadata randomly wonky at times

Doug David 12 years ago updated by Jona (Lead Developer) 12 years ago 4

Sometimes while streaming stations, the song data displays as an odd string like in the image attached. It's always 2 alpha characters followed by a 5-digit numeral. What's up with that?! It seems to be somewhat random. Later, the same station displays song info without an issue. Is the problem the metadata sent by the shoutcast station or xiia's interpretation of it? Or is it something to do with starting a stream mid-song?

I have tried the same radio you are listening to and I see the similar pattern of the metadata.

I have tried it on my PC and same metadata shown.  I think this something to do with the radio broadcast.

Now there is! Simply switch to the UberStations directory from XiiaLive. You should be able to search for the state and get all stations from there.

widget not working 3.0

The widgets are not working on my Htc Sens after upgrading to ver 3.00. I'm running ICS.

We have moved some of the code around on our project. This will cause installed widgets to disappear on some devices. Could you try adding them back again and see if they work? Also, there is an issue on Android 4.X where the widgets are 4x2 instead of 4x1.

Configurable buffers for data and wifi

Aristide Mooyaart 9 years ago 0
If we had separately configurable buffers for when I'm on wifi or cellular data it would mean I could have the radio start playing quickly when I'm on wifi but still buffer enough for my daily commute.
At the moment I have to keep changing the buffer setting, which is annoying.

Name of first track played on any given station keeps reappearing

Richard Barnett 9 years ago updated 9 years ago 2
Shortly before the currently playing track comes to an end, the track/artist name is replaced with that of the first track that was played when I started listening. If I change to another station, the recurring track name becomes the first track I hear on the new station.

This is on the Android app, which I use on a Motorola Moto G (1st gen) and has been happening for several months. As it hasn't been fixed in any recent updates, and nobody else seems to have reported it, I thought it was about time I said something!

Hey, thanks for writing about this issue. Does this happen with all stations? Knowing what audio format you are streaming and the links could help figure out what is going on. Also, have you by any chance changed the stream engine under settings? It should be FFmpeg under Settings/Stream/Stream engine.

Can XIIAlive display metadata in WMA streams sent from Microsoft Expression Encoder?

I would assume yes, but if you have a URL of a stream of the type you are mentioning would be great for us to use for testing.

A new beta update is out! The following are just a few highlights for this update.

Stream caching:

This update took a little longer since there was a big issue with the streaming cache.  We had a nasty memory leak in java that would cause the media service to crash after a some time streaming. Back then we where relying heavily on devices having external storage. This didn't allow some devices to stream and was somewhat slow and a little heavy on the battery.

After a lot of tests and different ideas was able to come up with a solid "beta state" caching system that should be fast, reliable and efficient on any device with or without external storage.  The new cache now smartly chooses the best setup according to the devices available resources.

UI Updates:

The UI was cleaned up getting ready for official release.  Main changes where a new design for the home screen in landscape. Also, the player got a few touch-ups. Mainly landscape player getting a cleaner redesigned look.

Translations:

We where able to localize the beta with 3 completed languages; Dutch, Russian and Portuguese.  Also, partially translated languages; French, Spanish, German, Finnish, Hungarian, Italian, Serbian and Estonian.  If you spot a missing translation or wrong translation please let us know! Also, if you don't see your language help us translate it

Add URL:

A new add URL wizard has been added. It allows you to easily add a new URLs to your favorites. This new wizard support HTTP Auth and also fetches and caches playlists.

2.1.8's new network logic doesn't detect a 4G connection on Sprint HTC EVO

Travis McMurry 13 years ago updated by Jona (Lead Developer) 13 years ago 4
When running Cyanogenmod 7.0.3.1 (Supersonic) on Sprint HTC EVO 4G, XiiaLive 2.1.8 fails to detect a network connection when 4G is on and connected.  It does, however, work with 3G and WiFi.  So in essence, 4G cannot be enabled for XiiaLive to operate properly.

The prior version of XiiaLive has no problems with 4G connections on Cyanogenmod 7.0.3.1.

Is the new network logic querying interface wimax0?

I assume you are trying to connect and you are seeing an error that there is no network connection?
