MP3 stream buffering on 2.1.7 in Android 2.2
I have noticed that when using the following stream on Android 2.2:
http://2503.live.streamtheworld.com:80/KBZTFM_SC
That the stream starts almost immediately, even though I set buffering at 10000ms (10 sec). In Android 2.3.4, it takes about 10 seconds to buffer, then the stream starts...
The stream is way more choppy than when I was using it on the AAC+ stream earlier. On a par sometimes with RadioTime (and that's BAD)...
Headset fwd & back skips 2 channels
We are improving the favorite skip feature currently. We will have the improved version out on the next update this month.
Update 06/01/11:
Update v2.1.9 should have this issue resolved. Please confirm if possible.
Automatically reduce Volume on connect
It happens so often to me. XiiaLive loses connection and after few seconds to minutes it reconnects - depending on the internet availability.
Or I connect to a station and pre-buffering takes a while. Or I have to stop music for a short period for any other reason (phone call?).
That's all fine so far.
But what's really annoying is that when the music suddenly starts or continues playing, it's so loud it hurts your ears (assuming headphones). It's not because of a bug - it's just that the ears adapted to the silence. And then even 70% volume sound way too loud. It takes a while until the ears adapt to the higher volume again.
It would be awesome to have a setting like 'reduce volume to XX% after YY seconds of silence'. So every playback after the defined duration of silence starts with XX% volume. Android media volume, not app-internal!
Then after playback started I can chose to raise the volume again. There are hardkeys for that - so it's easy.
I could also think of XiiaLive automatically and slowly raise the volume back to the level where it was before it was reduced when starting playback. Changing volume manually would then cancel the automatic raising.
:)
Great feedback! Thanks!
I think it would be great to have a fade-in feature specially for those cases. I think simply fading-in the volume every time playback starts would be pleasant. Potentially having an option to set how long the fade should last.
I'll set this feature request as planned.
Very Buggy on Xperia X10 mini pro
Thanks for the feedback. Im gonna try to get a hold of one of the devices. What exactly are you having issues with? Crashing or streaming? Or both i guess...
UPDATE:
Closing this post. Please let me know if you are still having issues.
Disable notification bar
Is it possible to disable the notification bar entry/icon? I'm using the Pro app on an Arnova Soundpad (running Android 4.0) and only one notification icon appears to be available at any one time, which means Xiia hides another icon that I'd rather have visible. Thanks.
You can mute the notification updates. However, we can't remove the notification status icon since we are a foreground process and Android strictly requires us to use one. If we didn't streaming would suddenly be killed by the Android OS without any warning.
To mute notification updates:
Go to Settings->General and turn OFF Mute notifications.
How do I close the app?
I don't have unlimited memory in my device and so I can't afford to leave apps running all the time.
I cannot find any way to close this app, except to open a task killer application.
This is not a good thing to do.
How do I close this app?
Thanks for your post! This is a common question and there is an answer! :)
XiiaLive stops working when you hit STOP button than you simply hit home or back button to close the app. You will still see a running process but you should see no running services.
Android keeps apps processes, which use memory, in case they are opened again. This is an optimization Android makes so that apps load faster. If Android needs more memory and XiiaLive is not playing any music Android simply closes the process and takes away the used memory.
So simply having a process running doesn't mean battery is being used or that the device memory is being clogged by the app.
Hope that my answer helps! Any questions let us know!
wma streams in FFmpeg mode.
Jona, I've tried listening to a number of wma url's which stream okay in android mode but appear to be connecting in FFmpeg, no buffering and the eventual message in the bottom corner is fail. One of the streams i use in android mode is: http://wms.absoluteradio.co.uk/absoluteradio.co.uk/vr_hi
Thanks again for your help.
The description on the settings "Stream engine" says that all formats except MPEG and AAC/AACP will always be streamed by FFmpeg. The MPEG and AAC/AACP are the only formats that you can pick if Android or FFmpeg should stream. Hope that answers your question.
Thanks for AVRCP 1.3 !!!
Now i see station name, artist and song just on the screen of my car receiver Kenwood BT61 ! Very nice! (Samsung Galaxy 2 + DI.FM )
Adding favorites from a computer
Is there some way to add favorites using an XML file prepared offline that is then "restored" to the phone? It would save a lot of time and fiddly typing using the on-screen keyboard.
Currently there isn't. However, we have plans to provide access to your favorites from any browser. There is no release date for this feature yet.
