Pandora Hijacking Xiia Via Bluetooth

Jamey Sewell fa 11 anys updated by Jona (Lead Developer) fa 11 anys 10

I frequently use both apps connected via Bluetooth radio in my car. Xiia works just fine until I use the car radio to switch to Pandora and then back to Xiia. The car tells me that Bluetooth audio is paused. When I hit the play button on car radio, nothing happens.  I can see Xiia playing on the phone, but not through the radio. To resolve, I have to force close both apps via phone. This is dangerous while driving.  It seems like Pandora is hijacking the signal. Can it be resolved?

Answer

Please try turning ON Ignore audio focus under XiiaLive->Settings->Sound and see if the issue still happens. This should let me narrow down the issue.

Also, please provide the following info:

- Device

- Android version

- BT device info

Excessive bandwidth when playing streams

Fran Litterio fa 12 anys updated by Jona (Lead Developer) fa 12 anys 2

On my Droid Razr running ICS I notice that XiiaLive uses waaaay more bandwidth than the stream I'm playing is rated at. For example, a 128 kbps stream causes my download bandwidth to hover around 320 kbps (and sometimes higher). I suspect this is because the playlist for the stream contains multiple stream sources, and XiiaLive is actually streaming more than one of them in case one fails. Is this what's happening? If I play a 128 kbps stream, I expect XiiaLive to use 128 kbps of my bandwidth and no more.

Answer

Great question.  There is something tricky we must do in order to stream using Androids hardware decoders.  What it is, is that we have a local server running on your device that reads the stations feed from the internet process the data and hands it to the Android media player. This causes the phone to record double bandwidth but when in reality only half of the bandwidth is internet/data plan used.

how can i look music for countries

eduardo medina flores fa 12 anys updated by Jona (Lead Developer) fa 12 anys 0
Answer

We currently don't provide a way to search for radios by countries. However, you can try searching for stations via search. Also, you can go to vtuner.com and finding there stations from a particular country. Once you find it simply click on the station and open it with XiiaLive. You can then save the station as a favorite.

French translation mistakes

Anònim fa 14 anys updated by Jona (Lead Developer) fa 14 anys 0
I've noticed small translation errors in the bottom menu:
-"histoire" should become "historique"
-"einstellung" (this is not a french word...) should become "reglages"
and
-"acquerant liste" when loading a channel should be "acquisition liste"

To be honnest, this is not much, but, if you can change it for the next update, it could make your app perfect ^^.
Answer
Thanks for your help with the translation! I'll add those changes for the next update. If you like to help us better translate xiialive to french please let us know! :) any little bit helps!

XiiaLive stops mp3-files from playing

Kjell Persson fa 11 anys updated by Jona (Lead Developer) fa 11 anys 0
Before I installed XiiaLive I cold click on a mp3-file to play it. The musicplayer started and the song where played. After I installed XiiaLive, XiiaLive starts with a repeteing clicksound when I klick a mp3-file and the song does not get played.
How do I make mp3-files work again?

Best regards
Kjell persson, Sweden
Answer

Currently XiiaLive doesn't support playing local files as you may have noticed. So you can actually restore the Android default launch settings by doing the following steps.

  1. Go to Android settings screen.
  2. Tap on Apps.
  3. Find XiiaLive or XiiaLive Pro and tap to open the App info page.
  4. Scroll down to the area called "LAUNCH BY DEFAULT" and click Clear defaults.

Hiccuping audio

Steve Hughes fa 14 anys updated by Jona (Lead Developer) fa 14 anys 1
Just started having this problem today. I'm having drops offs in audio quality. The signal is great and data connection is 4G. After a minute or so the audio quality starts sounding almost like it's skipping. The audio dips for a split second and becomes unusable. Other streaming apps such as Sirius still work fine. I upgraded to the Pro version and upped the buffer size but it didn't make any improvement.
Answer

Thanks for your feedback! Could you let me know what phone you have and what version of android is running? Also, does this happen with all stations? Does it happen with AAC stations or MPEG stations?

UPDATE:

Closing this post for now.  Please let me know if you are still having issues with the latest version of XiiaLive.

buffer

H MAN fa 13 anys updated by Jona (Lead Developer) fa 13 anys 1

Hello there,

I'm wondering if you have any plans to increase both the prebuffer and stream buffer even further?

The prebuffer is pretty good right now at 60 seconds, but I still think some folks (like myself) would like it to be even higher. As for the stream buffer, I really feel that it should be higher.

For the record, the only reason I purchased your app was so that I could have an adjustable buffer. What you have done so far certainly makes your app function better than other that I've tried, but I still get some drop-outs ;)

Thank you for your time and consideration :)

Answer
Buffer lengths are currently not any higher since some phone have limited memory, however we are working on a huge update which will have something in regards to stability that you will very much enjoy! :)  I can't tell you much about the update but I can say your request will be taken and should be part of that big update coming in a couple months.
