Skipping audio on LG Ally w/ Froyo

MisterHardcore 13 years ago updated by Jona (Lead Developer) 13 years ago 5
I have an LG Ally on Verizon that kept buffering a station ( http://punkradiocast.com/mobile.php ), then dropping the connection.  I fixed this by turning on the Internal Streaming Engine.  But now it skips if I do anything else on the phone.  Not having the same issue on Pandora, and this is happening on WiFi.  Ideas?

Could you install the latest release of XiiaLive v.2.2.1?  Please try that version and let me know if the issue continues. Thanks!

Update 0615/11:

Stream engine from v2.2.1 resolved this issue. The issue was with the beta internal stream engine.

G2x

Jason Hamilton 13 years ago updated by Tim M 13 years ago 0
Menu button does not work in XiiaLive Lite on T-Mobile G2x (Android 2.2.2) -- can't get into "settings" etc.

Also, playback sound randomly disappears.  XiiaLive says it is still streaming -- but no sound.  Have to stop and re-start streaming.

You can get to the settings by either pressing "settings" on the home screen, or by scrolling the menu bar at the bottom of the screen until you reach the settings button.

Try restarting your phone.
Sometimes things might break and a restart is all it needs. If you still experience the same issues please send us an email ( visualblasters@gmail.com ) so that we can try to fix this.

Sorry for such a late reply to your post...

If you are still experiencing this issue, try turning the internal engine on by going to >settings >advance users. Now the internal engine is still in beta state so there might be some small bugs or issues. For example, the track artist/title will not be displayed.
This should allow you to play aac stations but let us know if you still have any issues...

ShoutCast diminishing

Peter 11 years ago updated by Jona (Lead Developer) 11 years ago 0
I have the impression that ShoutCast stations are diminishing, there are less stations that used to be. (for example: category "Blues" -> "Chicago Blues" just 3 stations, category "Blues" -> "Cajun/Zydeco" is empty now, "International" -> "Russian" has 30 stations, with repeats). What do you feel, are directory services vanishing at all? No way to count 50'000 stations. Direct streaming, without directories, from web page links, still works like a marvel!

Some stations might be pulling out such as di.fm stations. However, we recently added UberStations which is actively adding new stations and growing its stations directory. A lot of good stations you can't find on SHOUTcast you can now find using UberStations. I'm not sure what the future of SHOUTcast is but we will continue to support it 100%! :)

SHOUTCAST Station Not Working in Xiia LIVE

JKSAW 13 years ago updated by Tim M 13 years ago 1
For some reason, when I pull up my station in Xiia LIVE via the "Search" box and click on Play, it says "connecting" but it just hangs. I know that SHOUTCAST has had issues with their directory and fixed the problem in WINAMP, but my station won't play in Xiia LIVE.

Any ideas?

This seems to be an issue with the internal stream engine :(
If you turn it off it should work.
>settings >advanced users >internal stream engine
We'll investigate and try to fix this issue.
Thanks for your help!

Decrease in sound quality with version 3.0

jediguy 12 years ago updated by Jona (Lead Developer) 11 years ago 5

Great job on the redesign of the app.  The interface is cutting edge visually and very intuitive.  It also displays very well on my 7 inch tablet.  However, there is one significant issue with the new version I've noticed.  This issue is sound quality.

I used the previous version for quite a long time along side TuneIn Radio Pro and the sound quality between the two apps was identical.  I liked using XiiaLive as opposed to TuneIn because of the freedom in managing favorites and tags along with simple info about what's playing (no large album art or station logos).

In comparing the XiiaLive 3.0 with TuneIn, the sound delivered from XiiaLive sounds noticably more shallow especially when there's a lot going on the music (i.e. layered electric guitars, electronica with heavy bass, etc).  TuneIn, in comparison delivers a more full and complete sound.  I'm guessing this might be due to the XiiaLive's new sound engine with the equalizer and various effects.  I've tried turning the equalizer off and on in addition to the various equalizer settings and although the sound does change, I'm still left with the impression that the sound engine is just not delivering the rich sound delivered by the previous version.

I would suggest fine tuning XiiaLive's sound delivered with the equalizer off so that it's identical to the previous version.  Then, of course, users could still customize the sound to their liking by turning on the equalizer and adjusting it accordingly.  I've been a big fan of XiiaLive, but sound quality is the #1 factor in my use of an app of this nature.  So, in summary, kudos for the new interface, but bring back the great sound quality!

Thanks for your feedback on the new app! :) We put a lot of work!

Sounds quality could possibly be different because we use the devices global audio session.  I think the main reason why the quality is different is because TuneIn I believe are decoding the audio using software and not hardware.  I would suggest you try using the stream engine FFmpeg to decode using software. Change it under Settings->Stream.

Let me know if you notice any issues there.  I will also investigate if I can notice any differences.  I'm also very particular about sound quality! :)
