Android Design Guidelines

Darkdrium fa 13 anys updated by bokeron2020 fa 10 anys 6
I wish to invite whoever is designing your graphics to read the Android design guidelines. This way not only will you be able to create an interface layout compatible with all screen sizes (as from your admission you are having troubles fitting smaller screens) but also one that fits with the new aesthetics introduced in Ice Cream Sandwich. I believe it would also allow adding more features easily.

As a very basic example, I have come up with one portrait and one landscape view of a possible interface as it would be displayed on an HTC Wildfire S (MDPI).

Image 15

The bottom row of icons are Share, Tag (Tag song), Favorite (Favorite station), Sleep timer, Alarm and Equalizer. I have used the default icons but you can use the ones provided in the beta version as they are more appropriate.

Image 16

The white space would be filled with station related info, and advertisement for the Lite version.

Action overflow would contain things such as Settings at all times, as well as things not as important based on the active screen. Note that the Action overflow would disappear on pre-Honeycomb Android devices as the Menu key will perform the same function.

Overall though, try to understand the design guidelines. They contain many useful tips for designing a strong interface, and I'm far from an expert myself.

Also, to be honest: I am using an overclocked HTC Wildfire S (800MHz on Cyanogen 7.2 vs stock 600MHz with HTC Sense) and the current interface for the beta lags as all hell, even with animations disabled. A Holo based UI (Which has less animations overall) would perform much better on low end hardware.

Also, while you are reading this: the beta force closes immediately on me as soon as the Play button is pressed. Unrelated but I'd rather not spam the place.
Answer
Thanks for taking the time to provide us with your feedback.  We are aware of the Android UI Guidelines and understand it makes design and layout flexibility much easier across screen sizes and densities.

We aren't using those methods because we are all about trying to make something that stands out.  This idea we have comes with a complexity price to pay.  We appreciate your feedback and will take it into account. I sent link of this post to the graphics designer to read ;)

In regards to the crash issue you are seeing.  This seems to be due to your custom ROM.  It is crashing because it can't init the EQ.  This I read on some forums that it was an issue.  I still have to investigate a little more.

Stops playing through headphones after 10 or more minutes

Jacques Parent fa 12 anys updated by Jona (Lead Developer) fa 12 anys 0

I have a Samsung S2 and latest 3.01 player.  When I listen to a channel, the headphones will drop off and player will go silent.  I unplug the headphones and the player pauses but will not play through headphones after I plug back in and start.  I have to restart the app then it will work for another 10 - 15 minutes.

Any ideas where I can start?

Jacques.

Answer

Please try reproducing the issue and right after you reproduce the issue collect the logs. This should hopefully give me a hint to what could be the cause of the issue.

XiiaLive App does not download after I paid for it!

Answer
In most cases this is because your payment was rejected or has not yet been approved by Google Checkout. We recommend that you check your order status on your Google Checkout account. Also, a common issue is slow network speed.

No Volume Conrol in Landscape Mode (3.3.0.2 Classic Light Theme)

Thomas Forrester fa 10 anys updated by Dennis Sullivan fa 10 anys 1
In the car, I use my phone in landscape mode.  The new v3.3.0.2 Classic Light theme has no volume control in landscape, and the icon to get to the volume slider (like is found in Classic Dark) is not there either.  This might not be such an issue for me if you had implemented the feature request I made many moons ago - remember the "Initial volume on bluetooth connect" I suggested (and that you thought was a GREAT idea)?  In the absence of either of those, this theme is a no-go for me.  :(
Answer
We are currently looking into this area.  We have strongly aimed at a robust streaming experience and now we are slowly adding more features to the app.  One of those will be album art.

Add last played track history

Anònim fa 15 anys updated by Jona (Lead Developer) fa 14 anys 2
Really would like the ability to bring up a list of the last say 10 songs played on a channel so i can tag them. FREQUENTLY miss tagging a song by 10 seconds and it's gone.
Answer
This is actually a great idea! :) I'll keep it under review until we place it on our TO DO list :)

High CPU usage on Samsung Galaxy S2

Bogdan Udrescu fa 13 anys updated by TurningColorz fa 10 anys 4

Although it functions impeccably, Xiia Live free version is causing a High CPU usage on Samsung Galaxy S2. When I stop listening I have to always stop it from Task Manager. Otherwise it will drain my battery very quickly. Also, Task Manager shows 7-9% cpu usage even after I press STOP on the player and the mobile connection shows it is still active.

Answer

The cpu usage on the free version is due mainly to ads with some type of animation. This is normal cpu usage when animations or things are moving around visually. Also, the player scrolling text will cause CPU usage.

I see there is a CPU usage on the free version for some reason after closing the app. I'll take a look since this shouldn't be happening! Thanks for discovering that!

Internal stream engine bug report (2.1.9 paid version)

blaxx fa 14 anys updated by Jona (Lead Developer) fa 12 anys 0
Hi again! :-) Looks like some good progress is being made with the addition of the internal stream engine.
I realize it is in the beta stage right now but thought you might like to know of any issues.
If wifi, and 3g are on, when the phone goes out of range of the wifi, the internal stream engine will not attempt to connect to the available 3g signal, instead what happens is a, what I call a "endless audio loop". the last 500 milliseconds or so of audio at the time the phone looses the wifi signal, loops endlessly, and Xiialive becomes unresponsive, the only way to restart Xiialive (streaming engine) is to go to the app manager, and force stop Xiialive, this will happen with any Mpeg stream (I haven't tested AAC) If the android stream engine is used this does not happen, Xiialive just pauses and resumes audio using 3g.
My details are: PHONE-Samsung Captivate; OS-Froyo 2.2 stock firmware; OPERATOR-AT&T.
To avoid any confusion, in previous posts I made, I was on US Cellular using a Samsung Mesmerize, I got tired of CDMA data issues so I am now on AT&T, much better on the data side now. :-)
If you need any further information, just let me know and I will try to give you as many details as possible.
Have a good day. :-)
