Name of first track played on any given station keeps reappearing

Richard Barnett 9 years ago updated 9 years ago 2
Shortly before the currently playing track comes to an end, the track/artist name is replaced with that of the first track that was played when I started listening. If I change to another station, the recurring track name becomes the first track I hear on the new station.

This is on the Android app, which I use on a Motorola Moto G (1st gen) and has been happening for several months. As it hasn't been fixed in any recent updates, and nobody else seems to have reported it, I thought it was about time I said something!

Hey, thanks for writing about this issue. Does this happen with all stations? Knowing what audio format you are streaming and the links could help figure out what is going on. Also, have you by any chance changed the stream engine under settings? It should be FFmpeg under Settings/Stream/Stream engine.

I would assume yes, but if you have a URL of a stream of the type you are mentioning would be great for us to use for testing.

A new beta update is out! The following are just a few highlights for this update.

Stream caching:

This update took a little longer since there was a big issue with the streaming cache.  We had a nasty memory leak in java that would cause the media service to crash after a some time streaming. Back then we where relying heavily on devices having external storage. This didn't allow some devices to stream and was somewhat slow and a little heavy on the battery.

After a lot of tests and different ideas was able to come up with a solid "beta state" caching system that should be fast, reliable and efficient on any device with or without external storage.  The new cache now smartly chooses the best setup according to the devices available resources.

UI Updates:

The UI was cleaned up getting ready for official release.  Main changes where a new design for the home screen in landscape. Also, the player got a few touch-ups. Mainly landscape player getting a cleaner redesigned look.

Translations:

We where able to localize the beta with 3 completed languages; Dutch, Russian and Portuguese.  Also, partially translated languages; French, Spanish, German, Finnish, Hungarian, Italian, Serbian and Estonian.  If you spot a missing translation or wrong translation please let us know! Also, if you don't see your language help us translate it

Add URL:

A new add URL wizard has been added. It allows you to easily add a new URLs to your favorites. This new wizard support HTTP Auth and also fetches and caches playlists.

2.1.8's new network logic doesn't detect a 4G connection on Sprint HTC EVO

Travis McMurry 13 years ago updated by Jona (Lead Developer) 13 years ago 4
When running Cyanogenmod 7.0.3.1 (Supersonic) on Sprint HTC EVO 4G, XiiaLive 2.1.8 fails to detect a network connection when 4G is on and connected.  It does, however, work with 3G and WiFi.  So in essence, 4G cannot be enabled for XiiaLive to operate properly.

The prior version of XiiaLive has no problems with 4G connections on Cyanogenmod 7.0.3.1.

Is the new network logic querying interface wimax0?

I assume you are trying to connect and you are seeing an error that there is no network connection?

Thanks for your feedback. We currently don't support recording but we are working on it. The recording feature will be smart enough that it won't let you forget to press record.

Why did you Remove the volume feature

Shoval Arad 9 years ago updated 9 years ago 4
First, Thanks for the great app, I am using your app for long time.

I just updated to the new version and saw that you removed the volume control.
My minimum speaker voice is too loud so I used it to use the radio in less than the minimum volume.

I would be very happy if you can return it, but if you dont want I am totaly ok with it and understands why...

bad text box under android 2.3.7

Michael Linck 12 years ago updated by Jona (Lead Developer) 12 years ago 0

I tried to set a feedback by using my standard browser of my cyanogenmod 7.2.0.1. Every time I press a key on my virtual keyboard the screen scrolls down so that I cannot see my typing. Horrible! Please use an other feedback formular for android standard browser. Thx.

short breaks after each new song starts

tuxmobil 13 years ago updated by Jona (Lead Developer) 10 years ago 0

When listening to Radiohab.com via Shoutcast with the current version (2.2.1) I experience short breaks after each song starts.

Phone connected via wifi, using default streaming engine. Each new song plays for about a second, then breaks for ~half a second, then continues to play.
The song title changes _after_ the song continues to play. My thought however was, that it might be related to the song title being transmitted since the problem only happens once for each song and right at the start.

EDIT: Doesn't happen for every song (start), but most. You'll probably need to listen for a few to reproduce it. Phone being used is Nexus S.

Please send me an email at support@xiialive.com I would like to provide you with a new app version to see if this issue is resolved.  Thanks!

Update 06/16/11:
I tested the radio on my PC using WinAmp and I heard the gaps you talk about, but they rarely happen.  This suggests that it's an issue with the actual broadcaster.

Stream cache duration question

Andrew Networth 11 years ago updated by Emochris 8 years ago 6
I have XiiaLive Pro purely for the stream cache duration option that sets it to 60 mins. I use this option for my train journeys , however ive noticed that if i get a phone call or permanently lose internet it sometime wipes the stream cache thats been building up. its terribly frustrating. any ideas

The latest releases of XiiaLive v3.2.x has our brand new stream engine which now pauses playback while on a phone call. Also, the cached audio data will not be lost after a phone call. We carefully designed it so that even if a connection was lost during a phone call a reconnection would happen during or after a phone call. This should make the experience much nicer!
